This site is now powered on Amazon’s EC2! I moved to EC2 since I wanted more control in the environment. On my previous host, I had to create things (databases, subdomains, email, etc) through their control panel, even though I already have enough chops to run things through the shell. One other drawback is that I was on a shared hosting plan, and those things aren’t great if you want to tweak things.
The site is now running on Apache2 and Passenger. It’s my first time using Passenger, and it could not have been easier to setup. I’m quite impressed with the ease of use.
Overall, the move was quite educational. I have another post in the works for my migration.
